Tracking ammunition sales to felons:
In Sacramento, gun dealers are required to notify police of the names
of those who buy bullets, to check against list of prohibited purchasers.

Cooperative enforcement:
The cities
of Cleveland and Youngstown are joining with Ohio's Attorney General and the
United States Department of Justice to launch the Northern Ohio Violent Crime
Consortium.

Age requirements for a gun:
Mayor
Frank Jackson of Cleveland proposed a regulation prohibiting gun possession by
anyone under 21, with certain hunting, shooting and other exceptions.

Car confiscation/eviction for illegal gun
crimes:
The Los Angeles City
Council has approved a proposal to give landlords the ability
to evict tenants who are convicted of illegal gun use or possession. Also, the
city would have the power to confiscate cars used in crimes involving
guns.

Ammunition seller licensing:
The
Los Angeles City Council has approved a proposal to require licensing for
ammunition sellers. They also approved a ban on the sale of .50 caliber
ammunition.

Gunshot detection cameras:
Albany,
NY, New Haven, CT and several other cities are deploying cameras in high-crime
areas that are activated by the sound of gunshots and automatically notify
police of the incident.

DNA evidence collection from crime
guns:
Indianapolis has trained 200 police officers to use new kits
that make it possible to collect DNA evidence from the surface of a gun found at
a crime scene.
