PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams appeared before City Council Thursday, asking the lawmakers for help in battling a bill being considered in Congress that could extend the so-called ‘Florida gun loophole.’

Williams came to the City Council caucus room to talk about what’s called “The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act.” It’s a bill before Congress that Williams said would force both the state and the city to accept the concealed carry permits issued by any state in the nation.

“I trust Commissioner Ramsey to determine who should have a license to carry a concealed weapon on the streets of Philadelphia, not a Florida bureaucrat in Tallahassee,” Williams said.

Council members were on board, giving unanimous approval to a non-binding resolution that urges Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation to vote against the measure.
