Council Supports Mayor's Gun Ordinance

Measure Likely To Pass At Oct. 28 Meeting

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Lancaster Mayor Rick Gray presented his proposed gun ordinance to the City Council Tuesday evening.

Gray said the goal is to cut down on illegal guns.

Council President Louise Williams said it's a measure that all seven council members support.

"All of us have seen the repercussions of guns in the city and around the state and we know that too many times guns get in the hands of persons who aren't using them for any legal reason," said Williams...

The ordinance would require gun owners to report missing or stolen guns within 72 hours.

Violators could face a fine of up to $1,000 and 90 days in prison.
