Michael Bloomberg to pressure congress to tighten some gun laws. They will

rules on buying guns.
Mayor John Peyton is part of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. It is a group of

Bloomberg, who are pushing some new rules to get more illegal guns off the
streets.
The group is in Washington for a Monday conference about how to decrease the
number of illegal guns on city streets and then they will present that plan to a
congressional task force on Tuesday.
One of the highlights of their plan is to require background checks for
people buying guns at gun shows.
"Anyone who is hosting a gun show, of sorts, should be required to go through
the same process that creditable reputable gun dealers go through in
Jacksonville," Peyton said.
He says with Jacksonville leading the state in murders and the recent rash of
police involved shootings, that now is the time to start cracking down on
illegal guns.
A recent poll released by MAIG said that 87% of people support background
checks at gun shows, including 83% of gun owners.
Illegal guns have been the focus of Bloomberg struck a deal with Wal-Mart on
Monday. The big box retailer agreed to keep records of guns they sale that are
later used in crimes.
