Poll: Coalition Releases New Poll of NRA Members Showing Strong Support For Common-Sense Gun Laws
July 24, 2012 - Mayors Against Illegal Guns released the findings of a recent survey by GOP pollster Frank Luntz showing that NRA members and gun owners overwhelmingly support a variety of laws designed to keep firearms out of dangerous hands. The survey’s key findings include that 87 percent of NRA members agree that support for Second Amendment rights goes hand-in-hand with keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, and 74 percent of NRA members and 87 percent of non-NRA gun owners support requiring criminal background checks of anyone purchasing a gun.

Poll: Overwhelming Opposition to National Concealed Carry Reciprocity
September 2011 – A new poll shows that voters overwhelmingly oppose Congressional efforts to override state concealed carry laws. The poll coincides with the launch of a campaign to defend the rights of states to decide who can carry concealed, loaded guns. The campaign website, OurLivesOurLaws.org, highlights the broad opposition to the National Right-to-Carry Act (H.R.822) from law enforcement, faith leaders, domestic violence groups, and the more than 45,000 Americans who have signed the Our Lives, Our Laws petition.

March 2011 - Mayors Against Illegal Guns today announced the results of five state polls showing that large majorities of the public - including gun owners - in five key states support closing the loopholes in the national gun background check system that now give dangerous people easy access to firearms.

Poll: An American Consensus: Keep Guns Out of Dangerous Hands
January 2011 - Mayors Against Illegal Guns announced a bipartisan poll that reveals a broad consensus among Americans, including gun owners, in support of tougher laws to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals. Among other findings, the survey shows that 86% of Americans and 81% of gun owners support background checks on all gun sales, and 90% of Americans and gun owners support fixing gaps in government databases that are meant to prevent the mentally ill, drug abusers and others from buying guns.

Poll: NRA Members Support Efforts to Fight Illegal Guns
December 2009 - A new poll by Republican pollster Frank Luntz reveals that NRA members and other Americans who own guns strongly support a sensible approach to gun laws that balances personal freedoms with measures to keep illegal guns out of the hands of criminals. The poll finds that both NRA members and non-NRA gun owners support various reforms that the bi-partisan coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns has called on Congress to enact, such as proposals to fix the Terror Gap and close the gun show loophole.

Poll: Americans Overwhelmingly Support common Sense Measures to Stop Illegal Guns
April 2008 - Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a bi-partisan coalition of more than 300 mayors, today announced the results of a new poll that reveals that Americans see stopping gun violence as one of their most important goals. Further, the survey found that there is strong support for common sense initiatives to cut down on gun violence. The poll was released during the lead-up to the Mayors Against Illegal Guns National Summit.
