Fatal Gaps: How Missing Records in the Federal Background Check System Put Guns in the Hands of Killers
November 2011 – Mayors Against Illegal Guns released a report showing that states and federal agencies fail to send millions of records to the federal firearms background check system, enabling substance abusers, the mentally ill and other dangerous individuals to pass background checks and purchase firearms.

Trace the Guns: The Link Between Gun Laws and Interstate Gun Trafficking
September 2010 - A new report by Mayors Against Illegal Guns reveals a strong connection between weak gun laws and interstate gun trafficking.  The report, which examines comprehensive crime gun trace data provided by ATF to Mayors Against Illegal Guns, finds that the states with the weakest gun laws are the top suppliers of the guns recovered in out-of-state crimes and are also the source of a greater proportion of likely trafficked guns.

A Blueprint for Federal Action on Illegal Guns
August 2009 - Mayors Against Illegal Guns released a comprehensive list of 40 concrete steps the federal government can take through administrative action to better enforce existing gun laws. The report, which was sent to President Obama and key members of his administration, includes recommendations for better information-sharing among law enforcement agencies, increasing ATF resources and new focused research to combat illegal guns.

The Movement of Illegal Guns In America
December 2008 -- Mayors Against Illegal Guns released a landmark report that reveals previously unreported trends in the movement of illegal guns across state lines. This report, The Movement of Illegal Guns In America: The Link between Gun Laws and Interstate Trafficking, analyzes state-by-state 2006 and 2007 trace data released by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and finds that states that supply interstate crime guns at the highest rates have comparatively weak gun laws.
